Black Voices FROM BIG BROWN

Untold Stories of African Americans at UPS

UPS approached me with a commission for their project Black Voices from Big Brown, to photograph more than two-dozen African American executives for a coffee table book celebrating their legacies at the company. The project was borne of an idea to reveal a hidden narrative that is black achievement at the highest management levels of UPS. As a photographer, bringing people’s stories to life through powerful images is my passion and I immediately said yes.

Through eight days of shooting and collaboration with these highly successful and impressive people, we laughed, we cried, and we high fived as they shared their time and their hearts. The images capture the grace, strength, and dignity with which they have defined themselves. It was an experience I’m honored to have been a part of.
